Does Whereby have closed captioning?

Whereby Meetings currently doesn't have a built-in feature for closed captioning. However, because it is 100% browser-based, you can use Google Chrome's captioning feature. 

Visit chrome://settings/accessibility from a Chrome browser, then toggle Live Caption to "On." This will generate auto captions for any site where it detects sound. Next time you have a Whereby call from your Chrome browser, captions will be automatically generated. 

You can send captions to Google to automatically translate them. If you want to get Live Translate in a language other than English, you can select your preferred language from the available languages that Google provides.

The captions are processed locally, do not leave your browser, and are never stored, so you don't need to worry about privacy being compromised. 

If you closed the caption window but want to start seeing captions again, you can refresh the page.
